The South African-born Hollywood actress, Charlize Theron is really missing South Africa.

Missing South Africa

The Bombshell actress expressed her nostalgia in a lengthy Instagram post, saying it has been more than two years since she’s visited the country.

“It’s now been a full year in COVID-land, and it’s been over two years since I was last home in South Africa,.” she wrote. “This is the longest I’ve ever been away.”

What’s more, the actress is missing people.

“Trust me, I love a good day to myself watching Real Housewives in my bed. But after a year of seeing barely anyone face-to-face, I am OVER it. I miss the energy of occupying the same physical space as people I love, the excitement of travelling to see those people –– something that just can’t be duplicated over Zoom.”

Charlize’s outreach project in SA

Charlize goes on to tag the non-profit organisation, CTAOP, which was created in 2007 by herself, with the hope of making a difference in fighting HIV in SA.

The organisation ultimately partners with for-profit and nonprofit organisations to help connect them to the fight against HIV, and to leverage their strength in numbers.

“We seek out like-minded partners so we may augment and complement each other’s work,” reads the organisation’s description. “Experience has taught us that education is a vital first step, but education alone is not enough. Issues like self-efficacy, gender inequity, stigma, access to youth-friendly health services and the ability to negotiate safe sexual relationships are equally important in addressing the needs of youth.”
