South African-born, US-based actress Charlize Theron has addressed the current unrest in the country. Unlike Trevor Noah and Elon Musk, other successful South Africans who left the country to bloom elsewhere, she shared a heartwarming message with her fellow South Africans.

Charlize Theron keeps SA in her prayers

Taking to her Twitter page on Thursday evening, the talented actress expressed how heartbroken she was over the fact that South Africa is going through so much at this time.

She touched on the various problems the country faces, such as poverty, unemployment, healthcare, and COVID-19 vaccines. She also wrote that she was pleased to see a “glimmer of hope”, in the people who have come together to help and rebuild their communities which have been affected by various incidents of looting and riots.

“My thoughts & love are with the people of South Africa. This is such a painful time for our nation, w/ so many unable to access safety, employment, education, food, healthcare & vaccines. But I’m heartened to see glimmers of hope as communities come together & support each other.”
