Charges against Sonia Mbele’s son Donell dropped

Donell Mbele, who is the son of actress and TV producer Sonia Mbele, is a free man.

According to Zimoja, the Randburg Magistrate’s Court struck the physical and sexual assault charges off the roll on Monday, 17 April, after Donell’s ex-girlfriend, Reokeditswe Makete, missed court five times.

DONELL MBELE IS A FREE MAN

In November last year, Reokeditswe shocked social media when she shared videos of her facial bruises she allegedly sustained at the hands of Donell.

However, Donell’s legal representative, Tiyani Vukeya said after reading her statement, he realised that the matter against his client was going to be weak because Reokeditswe admitted that she assaulted Donell first and reportedly damaged his cellphone. This is when Donell allegedly retaliated in self-defence by assaulting her.

According to the investigating officer — who had tried several times to interview Reokeditswe, but failed — she reportedly said she didn’t want to proceed with the case anymore.

SONIA MBELE OFFERS REOKEDITSWE SUPPORT

A day after the accusations, Sonia released a statement condemning her son’s actions. The former Diep City actress said that her son would take responsibility for what he had done. She further offered his ex-girlfriend her full support.

A few days after her statement, Sonia told Drum that her son was in rehab.

REOKEDITSWE DENIES THE ABUSE CLAIMS

In December, a source who claimed to be the former couple’s friend, told Zimoja that Reokeditswe suffers from severe depression, has a short temper and was a jealous girlfriend.

The friend also accused Reokeditswe of biting her ex’s lip and punching him.

“He sent a text to say she is starting again. I tried to call but that is when she was swearing at me accusing us of dating, they had no clue I was still listening because Donell did not hang up. I remember him begging her not to touch his face until she bit him on the lip,” the friend added.

However, Reokeditswe denied the claims on Instagram, saying: “I’m pissed as f***k cause if I really had to speak the truth about the situation y’all would be shook!”
