Burna Boy makes a statement after African-American backlash

Afrobeats musician Burna Boy expressed his belief that African-Americans should come to Africa and embrace their culture.

Burna Boy, a prominent musician, songwriter, and performer from Nigeria, has responded to the criticism he received over a recent remark he made about the ancestry of black people in the United States.

African-Americans on social media didn’t take kindly to the Nigerian artist’s comment that he believed African-Americans needed to return to Africa in order to embrace their culture so they could escape the particular challenges they experience in America and understand where they came from, and there has since been a lot of discussions online surrounding the Nigerian artist’s remarks.

After a video of the interview appeared on Twitter, Burna Boy was slammed by fans online. Some argued that, unlike the other nations Burna Boy mentioned, the majority of Black Americans today are not immigrants but rather the offspring of USA chattel slavery.

The musician used the Chinese and Italian American races as examples to support his claim that these groups don’t have the same problems in the US as the African-American race does because they are aware of their roots and what they stand for.

Over the weekend, he addressed the matter with a statement posted to his Instagram Stories. He expressed his regret that there are still black individuals in 2023 who want that we continue to be a divided and subjugated people.

Burna Boy continued by saying that he was attempting to convince African-Americans that they too had a home in Africa.

The “Last Last” singer has been a global sensation over the past several years and has given numerous performances in the US.

He created history by being the first African act to sell out New York’s renowned Madison Square Garden arena last year.

Burna Boy recently performed as the main attraction at the NBA All-Star Halftime Show in Utah, United States, and he recently revealed that he will be the main attraction for the UEFA Champions League final on June 10 in Istanbul.
