‘Criminal offensive side-eye’: Pictures of Thabo Bester, Dr Nandipha
Rapist-murderer Thabo Bester and his partner Dr Nandipha are at Kgosi Mampuru prison and the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court, respectively.

Pictures of convicted rapist and murderer Thabo Bester and his love interest Dr Nandipha Magudumana have caused a frenzy on social media.
The couple arrived back in the country, with a flight arriving at Lanseria Airport early on Thursday morning, 13 April. The pair was apprehended in Tanzania last Friday after being on the run since Bester’s grand escape from the Mangaung correctional facility in May last year.

Several other people have so far been arrested in relation to Bester’s escape. These include an official who was on duty the day of the escape, Senohe Matsoara, Magudumana’s father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, and an Integritron CCTV technician, Tebogo Lipholo.

When news of their arrest broke at the weekend, only photos of Bester — also known as the “Facebook rapist” — circulated. However, many South Africans were not convinced that the couple had, indeed, been arrested.
Following their arrival in South Africa on Thursday, SABC News journalist, Chriselda Lewis, shared snaps of both Bester and Magudumana. The images were taken while the couple was still detained in Tanzania.

FINGERPRINTS WERE TAKEN
Following their arrival, the notorious murderer and rapist was sent to Kgosi Mampuru prison in Pretoria. Meanwhile, the celebrity doctor is expected to make her first appearance at the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Police Minister Bheki Cele moved swiftly to assure South Africans that the man who landed on Thursday morning and who had been reincarcerated at Kgosi Mampuru prison was, indeed, Bester.

In addition, Cele said that Magudumana was also positively identified through her fingerprints. He said unlike her partner, Bester, Magudumana cooperated.
