South African singer Zandile “Zandie” Khumalo Gumede opened up about wanting her day in court for the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial in her bombshell interview with eNCA on Monday 18 July.

ZANDIE WANTS HER DAY IN COURT

eNCA journalist Slindelo Masikane sat down with Zandie Khumalo Gumede for her first public interview about her sister’s “baby daddy” Senzo Meyiwa. Zandie revealed that she can’t wait to have her day in court and she said that she was surprised that she had not been called as a witness.

Interviewer: “Your sister says she wants her day in court. Do you also want your day in court?”

Zandie: “I can’t wait for my day in court because as far as we are here, it’s been eight years now – we’ve been telling the truth, nothing but the truth. We have been helping in every way we can. There was never a day when we were called and we were not available. I’ll be more than happy to be in court, come forward and give my side of the story.”

The interviewer then asked Zandie if she was surprised that they were not the first witnesses to be called and she said yes.

“I am, I thought we would be the first to testify. Then they will have their own questions. I really thought we would be the first ones in the witness box but we are not lawyers.

THE SINGER REACTS TO HER ‘CONTROVERSIAL’ SONG

Masikane asked Zandie about her song which means whistle. So, many were under the impression that the singer was the “whistleblower” for her sister Kelly because of the timing.

The song was released just after Advocate Malelsa Teffo, who is representing four of the five hitmen accused of murdering Senzo – claimed that he has an eye witness who will testify that Kelly was the one to “mistakenly” shot Senzo. However, Zandie denied the rumours that she was the whistleblower.

“First of all I can never be in control of what social media sees or thinks and what they decide to say at whatever time. But me I’m not the witness,” she said.
