ZANDIE’S INSTAGRAM POST

One of the posts in question is an Instagram post dated 16 May – the day after she received backlash for requesting a complete media blackout when on the witness stand.

At the time, Zandie wrote: “Naze nakwata bo 🤣🤣🤣🤣lapho kusazoba worse yazi nizoshona nibancane ❤️ Take screenshots ke 😂😂 [You guys are so angry… and it’s only going to get worse… you will die young. Go ahead and take screenshots].”

In the first part of her post, she quoted the lyrics of an old maskandi song that has become popular on TikTok. The song is about a woman who sarcastically suggests that her haters give her poison to finally kill her because all their prior attempts have failed.

As a result of her application being reviewed, she started her testimony on 18 May instead of the 15th, further frustrating audiences.

The Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was gunned down in what was described as a botched robbery in the presence of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo, her mother Ntombi, sister Zandie, Zandie’s boyfriend Longwe Twala and Meyiwa’s friends Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala.

‘I WASN’T BEING MALICIOUS’

However, Zandie told Daily Sun that she was merely defending herself from trolls.

“I wasn’t malicious. I was defending myself from social media trolls. It’s been eight years since Senzo’s death, and throughout these years, I’ve been insulted and bullied on social media.

“I’ve endured so much pain, and at some point, I have to defend myself. At the end of the day, I am a mother, a wife, a sister, and I have a family. But most of all, I’m human. I must protect myself from bullies,” she said.

The Ikhwela singer said she wishes people could learn to differentiate between court processes and social media platforms. She further stated that she would not put her life on hold for the trial.

“I am one of the key witnesses in this case, and this will not stop my life. In the same breath, I want to assure South Africans that I also want justice to be done, but I am not going to stop working. I have kids to take care of.

“I have supporters who are waiting for my music, and I am grateful for their love and loyalty,” she said.

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been postponed to 12 June.
