An old clip of Will Smith teaching a young boy – whose name happens to be Chris – how to deliver a “fake slap” has gone viral.

This, after the Hollywood actor caused an uproar at the Oscars on Sunday night when he slapped host Chris Rock after he made an inappropriate joke.

The clip – which has since gone viral – originates from a King Richard screening last year.

WILL SMITH TEACHES BOY SLAPPING TECHNIQUE

In the audience Q&A following the preview, a young boy named Chris asks Will Smith how he “fakes being hit” in the movies.

The actor then gestures for the boy to come up on stage, in which he gives him a step-by-step demonstration.

Will is heard saying: “Alright, come here. C’mon. Come on up!

“I’m going to [clap my hands together] and you just turn your head when I go. And don’t fall down the steps.”

After practicing the act several times, Will says to the child: “And then you just put it in a scene. So I need you to say, ‘Hey man, where’s my money?’”.

The actor then pretended to slap the boy, giving him a high five for his efforts.

WAS THE OSCARS SLAP FAKE?

If tweets are anything to go by, the jury is still out on whether Will Smith’s slap was real or fake.

A number of tweeps have claimed that the scene – and particular the point of contact – was staged by the actor.

On the flipside, a body language expert has weighed in, claiming that Will could not have faked “that level of emotion”.

Speaking to LADbible, expert Darren Stanton said: “Once Chris Rock made the joke about Will Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, you could see a visible emotional shift within the couple.

“The joke targeting Jada’s shaved head following her battle with alopecia, clearly made her uncomfortable and she showed signs in her face of awkwardness and disdain after being embarrassed in front of her peers and the world.

“Will, on the other hand, made a slightly loose laugh and leant back in his chair, which is a sign of tension or uneasiness.

The expert then pin-pointed signs he believed made the incident appear authentic.

He continued: “As Will Smith sat down, the first thing we notice is that he does what we call a chin thrust. This is a classic gesture of power and dominance, like animals do when defending their young. We can also see flared nostrils, prolonged eye contact, which are signs of genuine anger.

“There’s been a number of theories online that this confrontation was staged. However, gauging from the degree of anger that Will Smith was displaying, this was 100 percent genuine. You cannot fake that level of emotion.
