Celebrity aesthetics doctor Dr Nandipha Mogudumana, or Dr Nandi as she is commonly known, has found herself at the centre of a scandal allegedly involving convicted murderer and rapist Thomas Thabo Bester – commonly known as the “Facebook rapist.”

Adding a twist to the bizarre tale is the fact that Bester was reported to have died in prison last year under mysterious circumstances. However, just months later, he was allegedly seen in public.

Thabo Bester was found guilty raping two women in hotel rooms in 2011 after luring them on social media under the guise of being a model scout. He was also convicted of raping and murdering his girlfriend, Nomfundo Tyhulu.

DR NANDI AND THABO BESTER

According to Keabetswe Khutsoane – a woman who claimed to be a victim of Thabo Bester during his reign of terror from more than a decade ago – first made the reported link between the criminal and Dr Nandi.

Khutsone claims that various women have sent her messages and pictures of the “Facebook rapist” allegedly out in public, despite reports that he died in prison in May 2022. In photos that have gone viral on social media, a man closely resembling the rapist was seen in a Woolworths store in Sandton, allegedly two months after his death.

Khutsone claims the woman spotted with Bester was allegedly identified as Dr Nandi and her two children.

In May 2022, the Department of Correctional Services announced that Thomas Thabo Bester had died in a prison fire at the Mangaung Correctional Centre. The circumstances surrounding his death were strange to say the least; Thomas was in a solitary cell and had no means to start a fire.

According to the publication GroundUp, reports suggest that Bester had escaped and that the body found allegedly belonged to another man.

The publication approached the Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) for comment. In a statement, they responded that it was “the first time JICS has seen these photos.”

The statement continued: “The Inspecting Judge, Justice Edwin Cameron is deeply concerned by the evidence he has received thus far. However, JICS cannot confirm this, as we are still busy with the JICS investigation.”

“Unfortunately [do not] have the equipment or forensic accreditation to confirm the authenticity of these photos or the identity of the person in these photos.”

DID DR NANDIPHA CLAIM TO BE THABO BESTER’S WIFE?

GroundUp further reports that following his “death,” Nandipha Magudumana – aka Dr Nandi – had allegedly collected his body from the morgue.

After the body was “confiscated” by police for further investigation, Dr Nandi approached a Pretoria High Court. The woman allegedly submitted an affidavit stating to be Bester’s “customary wife” and requested his body be released to her.

Dr Nandi has not responded to the allegations.
