Attendees of South African musician Ashley Raphala, popularly known as DJ Shimza’s Kunye festival have slammed the exorbitantly priced drinks and service via a tweet on Monday 1 November.

TWEEPS: ‘SHOULD HAVE GONE TO KONKA INSTEAD’

DJ Shimza announced his Kunye festivals as the “South African coachella.”

However, Tweeps were not impressed with the event and took to Twitter to shared their experiences. In a thread of tweets by Twitter user @forever_FiFi, she slammed the Kunye festival explaining that the drinks were exorbitantly priced. She shared a photo of the drinks list and a Hennessey XO which retails for around R2500 cost R5000.

Bombay Sapphire Gin which retails for under R300 was sold at R1000 and Jagermeister which also retails under R300 was sold for R900.

The Tweep also stated that there was no seating available at the festival.

“Should have gone to Konka instead of Kunye yesterday, do these prices even make logical sense?! Then there wasn’t sufficient seating, they should have told us to bring camp chairs because we’re at Innes free cup 2010. It was either you sat on the grass or you stood. What a mess,” wrote the Tweep.

The Tweep went on to mention that the prices were ridiculous to pay after already spending R450 for a ticket.

“The normal Henny was R2000. That’s when I knew that I was in hell. There’s no way! Not even an Ice Tropez for the babies. Imagine we had to bite the bullet & just buy a bottle of something that would make sense. Hayi no ways, after paying R450 for a ticket even? Mazza,” continued the Tweep.

TWEEPS: ‘THE CHAMPAGNE WAS HOT’

The Twitter user also stated — on top of the prices of the alcohol, there was no ice and the champagne was “hot.”

“THEN THE CHAMPAGNE WAS HOT. The water was HOT. They ran out of ice. Cheses yesterday was a Mazza. A joke my darling. I’m done ranting. Just sharing so people can make an informed decision. Personally I’m okay. We had to make the most of the situation, what were we gona do?” continued the Tweep.

The Twitter user also said that cups cost a further R15.

“Buy a bottle for R2000 then you must still buy a cup for R15 then the bartender still wants to ask if you’re tipping?! My brother please, with what money that is left?!,” she ended.

Other Tweeps also claimed that there was an issue with retrieving money from their tags.

DJ SHIMZA: ‘WILL DO BETTER NEXT TIME’

After seeing the thread of tweets, DJ Shimza apologised.

“Sorry about your experience Fifi, in the background a lot was going on however that should never be at the expense of your experience, will do better next time and thank you once again for coming ????????????????????????❤️,” wrote DJ Shimza.
