Due to the many crimes Thabo Bester committed, social media users did not find the joke by Tshepi’s son funny.

She was reminded that the man her son is joking about is a rapist and murderer who has caused many families pain. One of which is the Tyhulu family.

In November 2012, Bester was sentenced to life in prison for his then-girlfriend Nomfundo Tyhulu’s murder and the rape and aggravated robbery of two women in Durban. He also committed a spate of rapes and robberies in at least four provinces.

There is also the Bereng family, whose son’s body – Katlego Bereng Mpholo – was used to stage Bester’s death in a fire and escaping from the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year.

“This shit is not funny 😐. Grown adults allowing their kids to “joke” about a rapist and murderer will never be funny!” said one tweep.

“A “joke” only a terrible mother who’s not teaching her child the implications of the things they say, would find funny,” said another tweep.
