South African-born comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah has warmed many hearts after he made a whopping R8 million donation to a local charity. The donation was made on behalf of the Trevor Noah Foundation in partnership with YouthBuild South Africa (YBSA).

Earlier this year, Noah came under scrutiny following a long silence over the unrest that swept across South Africa.

Trevor Noah has seemingly not forgotten about SA

South Africa’s sweetheart Trevor Noah has won his way back into many hearts following a generous donation and partnership with YouthBuild South Africa (YBSA).

The donation will be going towards building better infrastructure in schools while simultaneously providing unemployed youth between the ages of 17 and 29 with the opportunity to gain training, construction skills, and the ability to transform educational environments in their communities.

The project which is called the Faranani infrastructure project will be based in Soweto and was put together to enhance the educational foundation in schools across the country, something Trevor is very passionate about.

Working towards improving SA

“Today’s kids are told to be the leaders of tomorrow, but they’re not given the tools. I’m excited about this partnership with YouthBuild because we’re creating life-changing opportunities for South African youth.

“We all deserve to achieve our fullest potential no matter where we come from,” said Trevor.

According to IOL, He also said that this project will equip youth with the “necessary tools for long-term professional and personal success”.

All is forgiven?

In July this year, many people wondered out loud why Trevor Noah had nothing to say about the Jacob Zuma protests that resulted in nationwide unrest and instances of widespread looting.

A lot of them were of the opinion that he had forgotten his South African roots and is only concerned with American politics.

His big donation may however have just changed many minds…
