Top Billing’s Janez Vermeiren reveals cancer growth in eyelid
Popular Top Billing presenter Janez Vermeiren reveals on his social media account that he’s had cancer growth on his eyelid.

Model and actor Janez Vermeiren, who is popularly known for presenting SABC3’s Top Billing shared on his Instagram story that he’s had cancer growing on his eyelid.

JANEZ VERMEIREN: ‘BIG THANKS TO PLASTIC SURGEONS’
The former Top Billing TV personality Janez Vermeiren revealed in an Instagram story on Friday, 17 March that plastic surgeons removed 25 percent of his eyelid that had a cancerous growth.
He wrote: “Big thanks to one of the best plastic surgeons @dr.gn.tjansing @alchimia_clinic for successfully removing 25% of my eyelid that had a small cancerous growth on it.”
It is unclear how or when Vermeiren found out he had cancer growing in his eyelid as this is the first time the media personality is sharing his journey with his fans on social media.
You Magazine revealed in December 2016 that the South African media personality’s mother Kristien was diagnosed with colon cancer, which was caught early and removed.
His wife Juliana revealed that Janez was in Belgium around June or July when his mother went for a general check-up and they found cancer cells in her colon.
“Luckily she could go for an operation soon after to have it removed and they had to also remove 30 cm from her intestine. She’s now cancer free,” said Juliana.
His wife made an appointment for him to go check and luckily the doctors found nothing but polyps which they removed.
“But they did do a biopsy on one of the polys and the doctor said that the chances of it being cancerous was high, so thank God he went when he did,” she added.

MARK PILGRIM LOSES CANCER BATTLE
You Magazine also reported in 2016 that the actor-model and Top Billing star Janez Vermeiren is expected to have checkups done every two to three years.
Vermeiren’s cancer revelation comes two weeks after veteran radio and TV presenter Mark Pilgrim died after battling stage four lung cancer.
News24 reports, the late radio personality was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in March 2022, which he revealed in June had spread to his femur.
Lloyd Madurai, managing director at HOT 102.7FM said in an online statement:
“Our hero and brother and much-loved radio personality Mark Pilgrim lost his battle with cancer this morning at 10:45.”
“He fought valiantly to the very end. Mark passed peacefully with his fiancé Adrienne at home. They were together for his last breath.”
“The family thank you for being part of his journey. For loving him and for celebrating him and supporting him always. Mark will be greatly missed by all. May his soul rest in peace.”
