THE SINGER’S ABUSIVE MARRIAGE WITH IKE TURNER

Tina married Ike on 26 November 1962 but divorced in March 1978 after an abusive marriage. Ike and Tina were a music duo and she was her manager.

Ike was a bandleader, musician, songwriter, record producer and more. He was born on 5 November 1931 and died on 12 December 2007 at the age of 76. The musician was known to have battled a drug addiction.

At the time of his death, his cause of death was not revealed until a few months later when Supervising Medical Examiner Investigator Paul Parker revealed he died of a cocaine overdose according to CNN.

THE ABUSIVE MARRIAGE

Ike and Tina released their first song A Fool In Love in 1960 – two years before they married. After she divorced Ike, she became a solo artist and spoke out on her abusive marriage.

According to Today, Tina spoke out on her abusive marriage in the book Tina Turner: My Love Story.

She explained that her marriage was doomed as soon as Ike knew he could make money off her and allegedly took her to a “pornographic sex show” immediately after their wedding ceremony.

“I was miserable the whole time, on the verge of tears, but there was no escape,” she wrote.

The abuse continued to escalate.
