A source claims actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo was axed from The Wife because she gave the production team a hard time and more.
THULI PHONGOLO’S CHARACTER WRITTEN OFF FROM ‘THE WIFE’
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela revealed that Thuli Phongolo’s character Lerato was written out of The Wife. This was reportedly because she would go missing in action.
“CASTING NEWS: Thuli Phongolo out of The Wife. The role of Lerato on #TheWifeShowmax, has unexpectedly been written out of the show Sources claim the decision was made to drop the role due to Phongolo going M.I.A. #KgopoloReports,” he tweeted.
The Wife’s production company Stained Glass productions confirmed that Thuli’s character was written off. This was reportedly a mutual agreement and because of schedule clashes.
“Yes, we can confirm that Thuli Phongolo’s character ends in the episodes airing on Thursday, 13 January 2021. This was by mutual agreement, due to schedule clashes,” said Stained Glass spokeswoman Nomfundo Zondi according to Daily Sun.

A SOURCE: ‘SHE GAVE THE PRODUCTION TEAM A HARD TIME’
The Daily Sun reported that Thuli was axed because she gave the production team a hard time. A source told the publication that if she was late for shoots she would just not show up and she would make last minute plans, which would inconvenience them.
“She gave the production team a hard time. If she was not late for shootings, she would not come at all. This forced producers and writers to make last-minute plans, and that was an inconvenience for them,” said the source to the publication.
A second source claimed the actress pulled a no-show stunt.
“Thuli is a talented actress. Any production would want her to be a part of but her character of Lerato had to be written off. That was not part of the initial plan before she pulled a no-show stunt,” said a second source to the publication.
