South African actress and DJ Thuli Phongolo revealed she has COVID-19 via a tweet on Saturday 20 November but Tweeps didn’t seem to believe her.

Thuli Phongolo announced that she cancelled all her gigs this past weekend because she contracted COVID-19.

“Hello friends. It is with great sadness to inform you that I have unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19 and will no longer be able to fulfil any of my engagements,” she wrote on Twitter.

“I have taken the necessary safety precautions by self-isolating and taking the medication prescribed by the doctor. Always remember to stay safe and take all the necessary COVID-19 precautions,” she continued.

The actress thereafter thanked her team, friends and family for the love and support she has been receiving.

“The love I’m receiving from my family, friends, team, brands and my followers is beyond me! Thank you so much… I’m not horribly sick but I’m definitely fighting the virus! I appreciate YOU all! “ she wrote.

Thuli was not entirely showered with love though, this is because some Tweeps seemed to think she was lying. She was accused of being an “influencer” for the government because the fourth wave is thought to be approaching. Take a look…

“She’s lying ????????????????????????.This is just an Ad… Sicela I proof to people who booked her,” wrote @ChrisExcel102.

“She is paid by the government or big pharma. We (are) heading for (the) fourth wave,” wrote @TimbelaZama.

Others were confused over whether Thuli had been vaccinated because she was not socially distancing or wearing a mask at gigs.

“I think she is one of those who believe COVID -19 exists only when they test positive. I’ve been seeing pics and videos of her in clubs with no mask on,” wrote @TaylorForresta.

“Thought she was vaccinated phela she hasn’t been socially distancing and been going to super spreader events organized by the leading party,” wrote @SthembiD.
