CCTV footage of Thabo Bester fleeing on foot from the Magaung Correctional Centre has been leaked to the public.
The convicted criminal faked his death and escaped from his cell in the Bloemfontein prison on 3 May 2022. He did so with the help of former G4S employees, his partner Nandipha Magudumana and her father, Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni.
The accused are charged with planting the body of Bloemfontein resident Katlego Bereng in Bester’s cell and later starting a fire.

In a clip posted by eNCA’s Annika Larson, Thabo Bester and former G4S technician Teboho Lipholo are seen running out of the Magaung prison at 02:49 on 3 May 2022.
According to EWN, Lipholo helped smuggle Bereng’s body into Bester’s cell just hours before the escape.
He also disabled the CCTV cameras of the isolation block known as “Broadway” so that movements were not seen inside Bester’s cell.
