‘KHAYELIHLE SHOZI REPORTEDLY FOUND’

A community radio station, Theta FM, based in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, revealed on their Facebook page on Thursday, 16 March that former Masandawana star Khayelihle Shozi, who was recently seen to be homeless, has been found and reunited with his family.

“Troubled Shozi Found! Khayelihle Shozi, who was last week seen roaming around the streets of Vereeniging has been found and has reunited with his family in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. Theta FM would like to thank everyone who shared and assisted in his being found,” read the statement.

This follows pictures of Shozi roaming the streets of Johannesburg and eating out of dustbins that went viral on social media earlier this week.

Zimoja revealed that Khayelihle Shozi’s life took a turn for the worst in 2022 when he went missing twice from his then-soccer club Mamelodi Sundowns.

HOMELESS SOCCER STAR’S FAMILY SPEAK

The family’s spokesperson, Simphiwe Shozi, told Zimoja that it was extremely painful for them to see their son on the streets.

“We have tried our level best to help. We will not give up. It breaks our hearts to see him in this state. We are still trying to get him help where we can,” said Simphiwe.

This would be the third time the talented soccer player reunites with his family as it is believed he received counselling the first time he was found and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital by the family the second time he went missing.

His former club Mamelodi Sundowns also committed to intervene in his struggles with mental health at the time.

Al Ahli FC head coach Pitso Mosimane revealed the fallen star had great potential and was saddened to see him in that state.
