Multichoice released a statement earlier today (6 August) saying that Somizi will be taking “taking some time off” until the abuse allegations made against him by his estranged husband, Mohale Motaung, have been dealt with.

M-NET’S ‘MUTUAL AGREEMENT’ WITH SOMIZI

Following Somizi Mhlongo’s role as a judge on Idols SA being in jeopardy, entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reported that M-Net met with the media personality to discuss his role on the reality singing competition show in light of the abuse allegations made against him.

The broadcaster said that they have come to a “mutual agreement” with Somizi for him to take some time off until the abuse allegations made against him are resolved.

“M-Net and Somizi Mhlongo met to discuss his role on Idols in light of the allegations made against him. We have reached a mutual agreement that Somizi Mhlongo will take some time off to deal with his personal circumstances until this matter has been resolved,” said MultiChoice in a statement.

Somizi will still appear in the pre-recorded episodes of Idols SA until 22 August.

“Viewers will still see Somizi Mhlongo on their screens until Sunday 22 August 2021, as the audition shows for Idols were pre-recorded,” Multichoice continued.

This follows Somizi Mhlongo also “taking some time off” from his radio gig at Metro FM.

MOHALE ACCUSES SOMIZI OF ABUSE

A report by Sunday World revealed an interview between Mohale and the producers of Somizi’s reality show Living the Dream with Somizi where the Rockville actor claimed his husband physically abused home several times. In one incident he says Somizi broke his ribs and two of his teeth in a moment of rage at their home.

“I took my keys and walked out, he took a knife. I was about to exit, so he said to me, ‘if you exit… I’m going to kill us both.’ So I took my keys and ran. He grabbed the knife and said ‘if you walk out, I’m going to stab you.’ Now I see a different person. I was sh*t scared and walked back into the house. He said ‘let’s talk.’ He cried and we moved on,” said Motaung according to Sunday World.
