Sol Phenduka is always up for a laugh when it comes to retweeting images of his “lookalikes.”
But this time, the Kaya FM presenter was severe when he distanced himself from a thief who fans claim resembled him.
On Monday, 5 June, a female tweep shared a thread about how a man had stolen her phone at a Pretoria resuarant. The woman responded to another tweet about the thief accused of stealing more than ten phones in the area.

Describing his modus operandi, she tweeted: “He came to our table & told us he’s been waiting for his sister & his phone had died, he asked to use my phone. The conversation with the sister sounded legit. And he handed my phone back.
She added: “About 15 minutes later, he seemed very frustrated & told us his sister must still be getting lost. So he asked to use my phone again. He was giving her directions while walking towards the door. A white car pulled up & he left with my phone.
“He had ordered two plates of food & a bottle of wine & his wallet was on the table while he was using my phone. So I didn’t suspect a damn thing. When we checked the wallet, it was empty”.

The woman – who tweeted a still of the man from CCTV footage – later reported the case to the police and blocked her banking apps.
In the comments section, many commented how claims of how the man resembled radio personality Sol Phenduka.
Like Sol, the man had a large frame and wore small spectacles.
After being tagged by multiple tweeps, Sol replied to the thread, stating: “It wasn’t me.”
