RIP Siyabonga: ‘Gomora’ star’s family say there were ‘no signs’ of suicide

The family of late ‘Gomora’ star Siyabonga Zubane said that they are awaiting his post mortem results and there were ‘no signs’ of suicide.

The family of actor Siyabonga Zubane said that there are awaiting post mortem results of the 23-year-old’s death via a statement to Drum on Saturday 7 May. 

SIYABONGA’S FAMILY SAYS THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF SUICIDE

Sunday World reported that Siyabonga Zubane was confirmed to have taken his own life. However, Drum reports that the 23-year-old’s family is still awaiting the post mortem results. 

A post mortem is an examination of the body after death with the aim of finding the cause of death. Siyabonga was popular for his role as Sdumo on Mzansi Magic’s Gomora. The young actor was said to be found in bed unresponsive at his rental Soweto home. 

“We don’t really know if it was suicide, but there are no signs. We are still waiting for the postmortem. He was found him in bed nonresponsive,” said his aunt to Drum. 

“They phoned us and took him to the hospital this morning and we are still waiting for a report,” she continued.

‘GOMORA’ EXECUTIVE PRODUCER PAYS TRIBUTE TO THE YOUNG STAR

Gomora executive producer Lungelwa Hela paid tribute to Siyabonga via an Instagram post, joining tributes from star’s of the series. She said she was having a tough time processing the actor’s death. 

“Immensely gifted. He took a role that was meant to only be in story for a few calls, and he made it into a solid 2 years worth of work, and still counting. His approach to work was with a child like wonder. He was always excited. Always couldn’t wait to perform. Always gave his best, and it showed,” she wrote.

Hela went on to say she will miss him and she was looking forward to him launching his music career this year.

“I will miss his laughter, I will miss him trying to hustle me for more storylines whenever I saw him. Gomora will never be the same. Siya, we had a deal???? I was looking forward to you launching your music career this year. I was so looking forward to seeing where else your acting would take you,” she continued.

“I don’t understand why your journey had to end so abruptly. I’m so sorry. ????,” she added.
