‘Wonderful time spent’: Simphiwe Dana jet sets with Thabo Mbeki
Simphiwe Dana had her fans and online followers’ tongues wagging after posting a picture with former president Thabo Mbeki in a private jet.

Musician and political activist Simphiwe Dana recently rubbed shoulders with South African former president Thabo Mbeki and took to Instagram to show off a picture taken with him which left her online fans and followers green with envy.
‘THE GENTLENESS AND PATIENCE HE EXHIBITED’: SIMPHIWE DANA ON THABO MBEKI
The Inkwenkwezi singer gave her followers a glimpse into her encounter with the former ANC (African National Congress) president. In the snap, Dana could be seen sitting inside a private jet next to Mbeki as they smiled for the camera. When uploading the picture on her feed, Dana explained how she enjoyed spending time with the former president and said,
“It has been such a wonderful time spent with this great leader on our way back from Guinea. I got such important insights from our conversation. The gentleness and patience he exhibited as I asked him a myriad of questions. I will treasure this experience for a long time to come.”
This was actually not be the first time the Afro-Soul musician was in the same room with Mbeki. According to one of her Instagram posts, she also attended Mbeki’s 80th birthday in 2022. The milestone was celebrated at the Sandton Convention Centre, North of Johannesburg, SABC reported. Friends and family members were said to have gathered for an evening to enjoy a gala dinner.
