Media personality and businesswoman Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize had a sit-down interview with television presenter Loot Love on Mzansi Magic’s Music Special on Saturday 16 October.

MAMKHIZE WAS AN ACCOUNTANT

Shauwn Mkhize, affectionately known as MaMkhize, opened up about her life, business moves and what drives her ambition to Loot Love. She revealed that she initially wanted to be a lawyer.

“I wanted to be a lawyer, believe you, me. I wanted to be a lawyer because lawyers are the only ones who wear the gowns after their graduation,” said MaMkhize.

She went on to say that her mom pushed her to be an accountant, which was not exactly what she wanted, but she studied, graduated and worked in the financial field. However, counting other people’s money was not for her, she wanted to count her own — and she did, on the field when she handed out her Royal AM players cold, hard cash after their KwaZulu-Natal derby win.

“My mom channeled me to be an accountant, which was not me. My mom channeled me there, I think from there I was like no. I don’t think this is me, I mean counting other people’s money? No I need to count my own money,” she said.

She revealed that after she gave birth to her son Andile Mpisane she wanted more and therefore, left work.

FROM CONSTRUCTION TO MEDIA PERSONALITY

After leaving work MaMkhize ventured into the male-dominated industry of construction as she started her own business. To celebrate 20 years in construction she decided to give 20 houses to 20 families.

She also explained that at the beginning she did not know anything about the construction industry. However, she was keen to learn and now she could tell you everything. Her jump from the construction industry into the spotlight was actually a planned move.

MaMkhize explained that a perception of her was created without her permission so to get ahead of it she wanted to show everyone who she really is. This was done through her reality TV show. She went on to say that she accomplished what she aimed to do as people see her for more than the tax issues.

She also said she is loving her team Royal AM and goes everywhere with them to show support. Adding that soccer is addictive.

MAMKHIZE ON WANTING TO BE PRESIDENT

Loot Love asked MaMkhize what her future plans are and she responded saying she wants to become president.

“I’ll try to see how to become president. Mina (me) I always try to do the things that people think are impossible. That’s me and I will go there and I will say it’s impossible? Let’s see,” she said.

She went on to say she wants to be remembered as a humble, down-to-earth person.
