Sifiso Meyiwa, the elder brother of Senzo Meyiwa believes the police want to scared anyone on the murder case of the former Bafana Bafana captain and subsequently that there was a conspiracy to arrest Advocate Malesela Teffo on Thursday 28 April, in the court room.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SENZO MEYIWA’S DEATH AND TRIAL

Senzo Meyiwa, who was at the peak of his career at the time – was said to be killed in an armed robbery at the home of his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo. Kelly, along with her mom Ntombi, sister Zandie, Zandie’s then-boyfriend Longwe Twala, Kelly’s two kids and Senzo’s two friends Mthokozisi Thwala and Tumelo Madlala were present when the soccer star was killed.

Kelly and Senzo have an eight-year-old daughter named Thingo together, while the soccer star was married to Mandisa Mkhize. Many eyes have been on Kelly since Senzo’s murder as many claimed she knew more than she was telling. The singer has been frequently trending on Twitter since the trial began in April but was postponed to 30 May. An old clip of Kelly’s comments on a cheating partner, in an interview with MacG, has since gone viral.

Five hitmen – Muzikawukhulelwa S’Tembu Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa and Fisokuhle Ntuli were arrested and charged after being accused of murdering Senzo. However, Senzo’s brother Sifiso believes these are just “fall guys” and the truth behind his brother’s death is being hidden.

Mzansi was left shocked on Thursday 28 April when Advocate Malesela Teffo – who is representing four of the five accused – was arrested in the courtroom, after court was adjourned for the day. Teffo was reportedly arrested for allegedly failing to show up in court for another case, but during his arrest, he claimed that he was being arrested because “Cele does not want him to be in the case”.

Teffo’s instructing attorney, Tshepo Thobane, claims that Teffo’s arrest was part of an intimidation tactic to distract them from the case. He went on to question the timing of the arrest as the warrant was dated for 22 January 2022. Teffo has since been released on bail of R10 000.

SIFISO MEYIWA WEIGHS IN

Sifiso maintains that he does not believe the five men on trial murdered his brother. He went on to claim that the police want to scare whoever takes over the case.

“I feel vindicated with my version that the five people currently standing trial had nothing to do with my brother’s murder and that is the reason why the advocate was arrested. Police will go to great lengths to protect the real killer,” said Sifiso according to Sunday World.

“The dramatic fashion in which Advocate Teffo was arrested inside the court bares testimony to this. It’s part of a police cover up. They want to scare anyone who takes over the case. Advocate Teffo was asking hard questions and exposing the state’s inefficiencies,”he continued.
