Sean Penn updated his followers on his dangerous mission in a tweet posted on Monday, 28 February.

In the image, the actor is seen carrying luggage and equipment as he joins scores of other Ukrainians hoping to escape.

According to reports, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are fleeing their homes into neighboring countries. Huffington Post reports that least 280,000 have entered Poland – with the majority of them being women and children. “Penn demonstrates the kind of courage that many others, including Western politicians, lack.”
