‘Pure self-sabotage’: Elton Jantjies slammed for affair with dietician

Springbok flyhalf Elton Jantjies received a lot of backlash on Sunday 11 September after reports he was sent back home from Argentina for allegedly having an affair with the Springbok’s dietician Zeenat Simjee.

According to Afrikaans Sunday publication Rapport, Jantjies, 32, and his “mistress” were seen at two different guest houses in Mbombela during the week leading up to the Springboks’ first Rugby Championship Test against the All Blacks in Mbombela at the beginning of August.

The publication further reported that Elton Jantjies reportedly left the guest house without settling his account of R4 000. This was before he checked into another guest house where his bill amounted to R26 000 – of which he reportedly only paid R5 000.

In addition, sources told the outlet that the couple’s nights of passion were loud and uncomfortable for guests.

Jantjies is married to long-time partner Iva Ristic, with whom he shares three children.

TWEEPS WEIGH IN

Following reports of the affair, Elton Jantjies’ name shot up to the trends list on Twitter, where tweeps and rugby fans slammed him for cheating. Others accused him of “self-sabotage” as this is not the first scandal about the rugby player.

Earlier this year Jantjies was detained at OR Tambo International Airport for a widely-publicised incident on board a flight back to South Africa. At the time, it was alleged he harassed a flight attendant and was charged with malicious damage to property.

“Elton Jantjies is the dumbest Springbok on the face of the planet.. You can’t be that blatant. Also have you seen Elton’s wife Iva she’s f**king hot. But the side is hot as well Zeenat Simjee is fine too. Springbok career over…at 32,” a tweep wrote.

“Elton Jantjies is South Africa’s own Tristan Thompson. Never seen that man trend for his actual job,” another tweep wrote.

While another wrote: “So Elton Jantjies is sleeping with the Springbok Dietician? If true he shouldn’t play for the Boks again, that’s the highest level of unprofessionalism.”

“If the stories are true… Elton Jantjies is in pure self sabotage mode. Such a talent, hope he gets himself together coz he will regret it in the long run. Sad!!” another tweep said.
