If “I said what I said” was a person, it would be Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee. The celebrity blogger has refused to back down from reports he published stating Queen Elizabeth has died.
This, despite Buckingham Palace stating that the royal had had her weekly meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson this week.
Jason has maintained that his source is “not lying” after publishing the report on Tuesday, 22 February.
Although Buckingham Palace refused to respond to Hollywood Unlocked’s original claims, it did reveal that Queen Elizabeth had carried out one of her official duties this week.
This, despite suffering from “mild” Covid-19 symptoms after testing positive last week.
Confirming that she was indeed alive and well, a Buckingham Palace spokesman confirmed that she had spoken to the PM on Wednesday. “Her Majesty did speak to the prime minister this evening,” said the spokesperson.
However Queen Elizabeth has since cancelled two virtual meetings.
The spokesperson added on Thursday, 24 February: “The two virtual audiences that had previously been scheduled to take place today will now be rescheduled for a later date”.
After standing by his claims relating to Queen Elizabeth, Jason Lee revealed that he was working on a follow-up story.
“I ALWAYS come with receipts” he tweeted.
He also took offence to a fellow entertainment reporter who implored him to stop posting false information.
He tweeted: “I’m ok with people having their opinions of me and my work. But if you disrespect me publicly I’m going to violate you publicly. I can drop those receipts”.
