Prince Louis became an instant meme after covering his ears during the Trooping the Colour and one of the many events celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
According to People, the youngest of the Cambridge children, Prince Louis, could be seen on the Buckingham Palace balcony covering his ears with his hands during the flypast, waving to the crowd and chatting with the monarch, who seemingly enjoyed his antics.
The four-year-old prince joined his siblings, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the balcony and for their official carriage ride debut earlier in the day.
It seems that Louis grabbed the spotlight then, too, when he enthusiastically waved until Charlotte scolded him to stop.
It is reported that Prince William and Kate Middleton’s young ones were the youngest royals to participate this year after the Queen announced that only working members of the royal family and some of their children would appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony. In past years, the balcony was filled with extended family members.
Before the pandemic, Prince Louis was still a baby when he made his debut on the balcony in 2019. Prince George and Princess Charlotte are now Buckingham Palace balcony veterans. George made his Trooping the Colour debut in 2015, while Princess Charlotte joined her family for the first time in 2016.
Prince George and Princess Charlotte are approaching the point where they are able to join their family on special occasions. For the first time this past Christmas, the siblings joined the royal family on their annual walk to church services in the English countryside. In March, the two eldest Cambridge kids also joined their parents at a Service of Thanksgiving honouring their great-grandfather Prince Philip, who died in April 2021.
