Actor Idris Elba revealed that two songs from the 1990’s were big hits at the royal party that followed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding in May 2018 – via an episode of BBC’s 1Xtra Rap Show on 2 April.

IDRIS ELBA REVEALS TWO OF THE ‘BIGGEST HITS’ AT ROYAL WEDDING

Idris Elba was the DJ at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding back in May 2018. The actor co-hosted BBC’s 1Xtra Rap Show on 2 April where the host, Tiffany Calver asked him about his job as a DJ for the reception following the royal wedding. 

“What is the vibe of a Harry and Meghan wedding? What tune was the one that got everyone going crazy?” asked Calver.

Elba stated that Meghan had provided him with a setlist for the night. He also added that guests “went off” when he played Whitney Houston’s I Want to Dance with Somebody. 

So, what was the second song? Well it was none other than Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg’’s Still D.R.E.

“It was Meghan’s choice,” said Elba of Still D.R.E.

THE ACTOR TOOK HIS JOB AS A DJ SERIOUSLY 

You may know Elba as an actor but he has made the quite the name for himself as a DJ as well. He performed at Ibiza superclubs and huge festivals around the world and of course, the reception of the Royal wedding. 

The Harder They Fall star said he took his job as the wedding DJ seriously because this was not his cousin’s wedding but actually a big deal.

“This wasn’t like my cousin’s wedding,” he said to Daily Mail.

“This [reception] wasn’t at the community hall. … This was a big, big deal. … They’re good friends and I wanted to make sure they had a great time, so there was a lot of pressure,” he continued.
