The South African Police Service (SAPS) have been spotted on Wednesday 11 August at the Pepperclub Hotel in Long Street, Cape Town, restaging the events around the death of rapper AKA’s fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe.

POLICE RE-ENACTING TEMBE’S DEATH

Nelli Tembe plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on Sunday 11 April.

According to a report by SA People, members of the SAPS were seen simulating the tragic events and scene of Nelli Tembe’s death as they cordoned off the area beside the hotel as part of their investigations.

A Cape Town resident said that the officers “did simulations with a drone and shop dolls and heavy bags falling,” to SA People.

According to reports of Nelli Tembe’s death, she was found naked by a security guard at around 07:30 on the morning of 11 April. The security guard first thought it was a car crash but after a closer look noticed that someone was laying on the ground. Nelli Tembe was reportedly still breathing

“I thought it was a car crash and we went to look and at first we didn’t see anything, and then someone shouted that there was someone lying on the street,” said the security guard to IOL.

“We went closer and saw a naked young woman, she was still breathing at that time,” the security guard continued.

Nelli Tembe was later declared dead on the scene.

LATEST ON TEMBE’S CASE

Uncertainty surrounded the 22-year-old’s death which was first speculated to be a suicide. However, when investigators took a closer look at the case and according to City Press the initial inquest was conducted as a murder case with AKA as the prime suspect.

However, it seems AKA’s tell-all interview with eNCA news anchor Thembekile Mrototo may have gotten him off-the-hook because the initial inquest into the aspiring chef’s death was concluded on 25 May, just three days after AKA’s interview premiered on YouTube.

“After the interview, the matter was closed by the SAPS and handed over to the NPA for review. The NPA then reverted and said this was a suicide investigation and what (the police) had provided had elements (of there being) a suspect of murder,” said the source City Press.

A new investigation has since been opened which is known to be “standard” procedure when the deceased has passed away due to “unnatural causes”.
