Club owner and organiser Vuyo “Vee” Kobo has had enough of celebrities who were no-shows on different occasions at his spot located in Wolmaransstad in the North West.

The businessman, who told the Daily Sun that his customers no longer believe him when he books celebrities for their entertainment, said that Skeem Saam actress Oratile Maitisa, singer Presss Sihlangu and dancer Zodwa Wabantu owe him money.

According to Kobo, on 30 April he booked the Skeem Saam actress for a show called Situation Night, but she didn’t pitch. Oratile plays the character of Eunice in the SABC1 educational drama series.

The club owner said he had paid her R3 000 got her appearance and another R5 000 after she promised to honour her booking on 10 September. She allegedly did not pitch for the second one either.

Ke Rata Wena singer Presss was paid R10 000 of R15 000 he had charged, according to Kobo. But he, too, reportedly did not pitch on 16 September.

“They book shows to perform at the club but then they just don’t show up. They have ruined my club because of their empty promises!” he said.

“Our pub was having great support from the local people but ever since Oratile failed to pitch up twice, people have lost their faith in us,” he said.

He also put dancer and reality TV star Zodwa Wabantu on blast for the same reasons.

“Zodwa said she will come to The Vee Lifestyle, and she was given R30 000. But her fans were left stranded on 17 September for a show called All White Colour Splash.

“We no longer have patrons because they see us as scammers. No matter how much we try to get them back, they no longer have faith in us,” he added.

Kobo claimed that these media personalities look down on his town because it is small and not well known.

CELEBS RESPOND

The Daily Sun reports that none of the three celebrities denied being booked at the club, however, Oratile said she has paid Kobo back his money.

“I’m sorry we had a funeral at home. But I gave him what belongs to him,” said the Skeem Saam actress who said she paid him back his money in August.

On the other hand, Presss said he will not be paying back the money.

“He paid me the deposit but I won’t give it back as they postponed the show during the week. I was ready for them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zodwa said:

“I will see what we can do with this matter. Yes, I didn’t go to the show.”
