BRIDGET HARRIS: ‘AKA FELT OUR PAIN’

Speaking to Daily Sun Nataniel Julies’ mother Bridget Harris reveals the rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was a humble person.

“He felt our pain when my son was murdered. He gave R60 000 to the family, through his team. He was saddened by the way Nateniel’s life was taken. Hid donations made a big difference because I’m not working”.

Harris also tells the publication that she was saddened by the way the rapper died, prays his family finds healing, and that justice will prevail.

“When I heard AKA’s death, I couldn’t believe that another hero to many has fallen. I’m heartbroken that he will never get to see the outcome of my son’s trial and even more sad that his life was also taken by the gun.”

WHO IS NATANIEL JULIES?

According to Daily Sun, the award-winning rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes took to social media in 2020 and asked his fans to help him find Nataniel Julies’ family. Forbes wanted to donate the R60 000 to Bridget Harris’ family to assist with funeral arrangements amongst other things.

Nathaniel Julies was allegedly shot and killed by the police on 26 August 2020 near his home in Eldorado Park, south of Johannesburg. The accused claimed the 16-year-old with down syndrome was shot after failing to respond to questions. Gauteng Premier David Makhura initially said he was caught in the crossfire between the police and gangs.

Eyewitness accounts differ and they said there was no gang presence in the area. It is alleged that Ndyalvane shot Julies with a pump action shotgun at close range and the officers removed his body from the scene.

Julies’ father, Clint Smith, told  Daily Maverick that he found his son’s body at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital.

“I found my son. He was shot. The police left him in Bara [the hospital]. They shot him in the chest with a pump action. A 16-year-old boy with a pump action? Ay! Ay! Ay!” said Smith.
