DStv entertainment channel Moja Love has cleared the air on one of its most-loved presenters Jub Jub’s dismissal.

‘UYAJOLA 9/9′ TO GET NEW PRESENTER

According to City Press, a senior source at Moja Love revealed that the rapper — whose real name is Molemo Maarohanye — was fired as host of the cheating show two weeks ago via a letter.

“They didn’t want to fire him at first. They gave him the option of apologising to the woman who was organising the Moruleng event with him when they withheld his salary last month,” said the source.

The woman in question is the musician’s business partner, Keabetswe Mokoena. The pair had a fall-out in December last year after Mokoena accused Jub Jub of verbal abuse, harassment, emotional stress, and “substantial harm to her professional reputation and business”.

She also accused the Ndikhokhele hitmaker of trying to benefit from a community project they worked on through NGO Raah Foundation which was contracted by the government to organise the Moses Kotane Arts Festival that was expected to take place between 3 and 4 December 2022 at the Moruleng Stadium in North West. The event was later cancelled.

JUB JUB IS TAKING MOJA LOVE TO COURT

City Press reported that the artist has instructed his lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi of Baloyi-Ntsako Attorneys, to file an application to overturn the channel’s decision in the Johannesburg High Court on Tuesday, 28 February.

“It’s not clear why he was dismissed. It’s unfortunate that he wasn’t paid his salary for January. When we enquired about it and demanded that he be paid, we received a letter stating that he had been let go.

“We’re in the process of approaching the high court and we don’t want to discuss details at the moment,” he said.

The TV presenter also reportedly appeared in the Rustenburg Magistrates’ Court in North West on Wednesday, 22 February.

MOJA LOVE CLEARS THE AIR

According to The Citizen, Moja Love claims that the presenter was not fired as he is not a permanent employee.

This was confirmed by Moja Love’s head of channels, Bokani Moyo, who said: “Jub Jub is an independent contractor and, therefore, cannot be dismissed as he is not a permanent employee of the channel.

“Moja LOVE is also not at liberty to discuss the contents of his contract as it is confidential and of a privileged nature.“

The host’s contract was set to expire on 18 March 2023.
