Cassper Nyovest’s boxing match against controversial YouTuber Slik Talk is the talk of the town. The Siyathandana rapper won the match via a technical knockout on Wednesday evening and celebrities have been adding their voice to the post-match conversation.

Former Democratic Alliance (DA) leader and politician Mmusi Maimane used the opportunity to fire shots at the country’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), calling out their leadership.

Unfortunately, Slik Talk stood no chance against Cassper Nyovest on Wednesday 22 December. Cassper, who is a self-confessed boxing fan, was declared the winner a mere 90 seconds into the third round of the much-anticipated match.

Mmusi Maimane seems to have been one of the thousands of people who tuned into the livestreamed boxing match on YouTube. After seeing Slik Talk lose against the award-winning rapper, he compared the YouTuber to the ANC “fighting corruption and delivering jobs” in a tweet.

Maimane photoshopped Slik Talk’s face onto a photo of former president Nelson Mandela during his boxing days.

Mmusi Maimane went a step further by taking aim at the ANC’s management of the country, comparing it to Slik Talk being underprepared for his fight against Cassper.

“But I only had 27 years to prepare.”

“The ANC response when the public asks the ANC why they have failed to deliver jobs, services and improve the quality of education.”

The 41-year-old politician continued by saying that South Africa “needs leadership that can pack a punch”.

“We need real fixes not gimmicks.”

“We need real walkers not Slik talkers.”

Tweeps weigh in: ‘Imagine Juju in a ring with Fikile’

One tweep feels political parties should also settle their differences in the ring like Cassper and Slik Talk did.

“I think political parties should consider taking this route. Imagine Juju in a ring with Fikile,” wrote one tweep.

Another wrote: “Challenge Ramaphosa to boxing match if he loses, you can be our president.”

“Tweet of the day! A knock out!”
