A clip of newly crowned Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu impersonating a cat during the pageant on Sunday 12 December, has gone viral on Twitter.

MISS UNIVERSE’S ANIMAL IMPERSONATION GOES VIRAL

Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe at the pageant held in Israel on Sunday 12 December. Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza from Mexico presented her with the prestigious crown.

A clip of the beauty queen “meowing” has since gone viral on Twitter. When announcing the top 16, Miss Universe host Steve Harvey asked Harnaaz to do her best animal impersonation and she gracefully obliged.

“I hear you do some pretty good animal impersonations. Yeah, they got that question,” said Steve.

“Oh my God, Steve. I was not expecting to do this on [the] world stage. But I have to do this; I have no other option,” replied Harnaaz before she began to meow.

TWEEPS: ‘THOSE CRINGING SHOULD BLAME THE HOST’

Tweeps were mostly impressed by Miss Universe’s cat impersonation but thought it was weird to ask a contestant to do that on stage.

“Jokes and giggles aside, asking a Miss universe contestant to meow on stage is just weird. Harnaaz handled it with a sporting spirit, so really, hats off to her. And my girl won that crown as well. Congratulations,” wrote @hyuckables.

Another Tweep thought she did “terrible” but other Tweeps defended her.

“Those were terrible meows but she did a great job handling the request,” wrote @MrELG1N.

“I was embarrassed for all of humanity,” wrote @baroness_beer.

“Those cringing should blame the host. She had no choice but to do it. Moreover it was not about what she did, but how confidently she did it,” wrote @alkagurha.
