The Megacy — slain rapper AKA’s legion of fans — are starting to believe controversial podcast contributor Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi’s claims about the day the musician was brutally murdered.

This comes after an interview on e.TV’s My Guest Tonight with Annika Larsen on Tuesday, 21 March, where AKA’s bodyguard Anwar “Dogg” Khan opened up about what went wrong the night the musician was gunned down.

The 35-year Fela in Versace hitmaker was brutally murdered with his friend and celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane outside Wish on Florida in Durban on 10 February when two armed men opened fire.

PROTOCOL WAS BREACHED THE NIGHT AKA AND TIBZ WERE MURDERED

Dogg — who has provided VIP security for international stars such as Oprah Winfrey, Chris Brown, Toni Braxton, Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar and over 60 others — had been AKA’s bodyguard for eight years. His job was to make sure the rapper was safe every time he was in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).

However, during AKA’s final visit to Durban, Dogg was already booked to provide security to US rapper Abbas “Bas” Hamad, who was in South Africa at the time. As a result, he assigned one of his employees to protect the Last Time rapper.

Speaking to Larsen, he explained that there were no plans for AKA to go to Florida Road that night and he would’ve prevented him from going.

“Ninety percent of our work is the manner in which we move. It’s the planning, how you pre-plan, how you schedule your timing and placing of yourself and the person [you are protecting],” he told Larsen.

He further said that part of their job is to restrict movement, therefore reducing threats.

“In my absence, protocol was breached. Kiernan was called and invited to go to Florida Road (Wish) which he accepted and he went. Had I been there, that protocol would not have been breached, simply because that call would’ve came through the road manager,” Dogg said.

AKA’s road manager was “Scorpio Siya” Mdluli, who is rapper Ntokozo “K.O” Mdluli’s brother.

FANS SING NOTA’S PRAISES

After Dogg’s reference to Scorpio Siya in the viral e.TV interview, fans have been singing Nota’s praises. This is because the former music exec alleged — just one day after the assassination — that AKA’s team was involved.

In his rant on social media, Nota named his prime suspects in the brutal murder. He claimed that AKA’s team; including his DJ, Don Design, DJ Feel, Scorpio Siya and former DreamTeam member Saso Ngcobo set the slain hip-hop artist up.
