Matthew Booth says wife didn’t ‘consider’ kids in ‘unfounded’ claims

Matthew Booth has expressed concern for his children following the explosive cheating allegations made by his wife Sonia Booth.

Matthew Booth has broken his silence on the cheating allegations his wife Sonia Booth levelled against him.

In a statement he shared on social media on Wednesday, 9 November, the SuperSport soccer analyst said that Sonia did not consider the damage her allegations would have on their children and his alleged mistress Bongani Mthombeni-Moller’s family.

Addressing the cheating scandal which has set tongues wagging since the former beauty queen aired it on Monday, Matthew Booth said that the allegations are “unfounded”.

Matthew Booth also said that his wife did not think about the damage the allegations would cause Bongani Mthombeni-Moller’s family as well as their two sons, aged 18 and 14, who are currently writing their exams.

“It is with utmost sadness and a disappointment that my wife Sonia Booth resorted to airing these unfounded allegations on all public platforms with an intention to tarnish my name without discussing them with me, and without considering the damage that these allegations will cause, especially to our minor children who are in the middle of their final exams and to the Mthombeni Möller family.”

In her lengthy and detailed exposé on social media, Sonia Booth shared evidence to support her claims on her husband’s alleged cheating escapades.

According to Sonia, Matthew had been using their joint bank account and her vehicle, which has a tracker in it, to spend quality time with Bongani. The two allegedly took a road trip to Empangeni in KwaZulu-Natal, they spent valentines day together and also had lunch dates.

She also claimed that Matthew baked a cheesecake cake, for his alleged girlfriend on the eve of their son’s birthday that they thought they would feast on as a family.

The former Bafana Bafana player also said that he is leaving the matter in the hands of his lawyers who have been instructed to “vigorously take the necessary steps to claim the appropriate relief.”

In conclusion, he appealed to his colleague, Bongani Mthombeni-Moller and all the brands he works with not allow the allegations to tarnish the work his foundation, Booth Trust, has done.

“I would like to appeal to Mrs Mthombeni-Moller, the corporates and sponsors who have partnered with the Booth Trust for the advancement of soccer development initiatives not to allow this personal matter to deter the good work that’s being done, and that which lies ahead,” Matthew Booth said.
