Singer, producer and composer Lebo M has cleared the air on the number of times he’s been married.

For years the 58-year-old Lion King composer has been known as the man who marries every woman he is with. However, during his interview with MacG and Sol Phenduka on Podcast and Chill on Thursday 21 July, the legend exposed who is behind an alleged smear campaign against him and why.

Lebo M secretly married his “ride or die” — businesswoman Pretty Samuels — in February this year, with reports claiming it is his seventh marriage. However, speaking to MacG and Sol, he rubbished these claims.

“I’ve been married three times, I just got remarried with my fourth wife.”

The reality TV star, who let fans into his life on his show Lebo M: Coming Home in 2020, said reports about the number of times he’s been married never used to bother him until he realised it was creating a problem. The award-winning composer said it was coming from “a decade-long well-orchestrated smear campaign”.

Giving context on his marriages, Lebo M said that his first wife was American comedian Vivica Gibson with whom he had two children.

His second wife was actress Nandi Ndlovu-Goodjohn.

“That was a very great marriage… about four and a half years or so, five years.

“That’s my son, Tshepiso, Refilwe and my late son, Thembalethu’s mother… she took my money and married a gigolo,” he claims.

In 2008, he met Angela Ngani-Casara who became his third wife eight months later. The pair were married for five and a half years and have a daughter together.

According to Lebo M, Angela was “very violent” and had a “troubled background”.

“I divorced her, then tried a relationship for the second time.

“We never got married [for the second time]… And the third time was when the reality show happened, right before COVID. That is what is misquoted as we got married three times. We got married only once,” he explained.

His fourth marriage was with his current wife, Pretty, he further explained.

This week, Lebo M went off at an “angry, bitter ex” whom he did not name. In social media posts, which he later deleted, he accused his ex of starting a “smear campaign” against him after the woman allegedly flooded his Instagram with shady comments.

On Podcast and Chill, however, he revealed that the “angry, bitter ex” is Nandi Ndlovu-Goodjohn.

Lebo M claimed that she is behind the negative reports about him in partnership with a journalist named Theo. According to him, the aim is to always derail his positive work by painting him as a serial husband or “villain”.

Further explaining, he said it all started when their son Thembalethu died in 2003 when he was only 14 months old.

“In 2006 I then learned that my son was murdered and when I brought in investigators she fought the investigation because she was basically negligent.

“She left my 14-month-old son with a girl she had just hired and went to party with her lover… she was in a relationship with a girl that worked for me and I didn’t know. Londiwe was her lover then. So that then becomes the motive,” he explained.

He further explained that Nandi had interviewed their son’s nanny on Sunday for 10 minutes, the nanny started working on Monday and their son died the same week on Friday. At the time he said he was out of the country.

He also refuted reports that his son drowned in a swimming pool, saying his son was murdered. However, Lebo M claims that Nandi has been fighting him (even in court) about their son’s death because she does not want to accept the negligent role she played in his passing.
