Marietjie Bothma: Intombi Yomzulu’s health woes revealed

Cause of death? Marietjie Bothma – aka Intombi Yomzulu – allegedly endured health and financial woes before her death this week.

The family of Marietjie Bothma has shut down social media rumours they are too broke to bury her. This, following her untimely death this week.

The Zulu-speaking actress and TV presenter – nicknamed  “Intombi Yomzulu” – died after a short illness, reports TshisaLive.

Marietjie is known for starring in the 2013 King Pie TV advertisement.

MARIETJIE BOTHMA’S BROTHER SLAMS RUMOURS

Speaking to Drum, Marietjie’s brother confirmed her death at the Kopanong hospital in the Vaal on Tuesday, 30 May.

He also slammed fake reports circulating on social media suggesting  the family ” needs financial assistance to give [her] a dignified funeral.”

He said: “As I am speaking to you, the funeral parlour just fetched the body from the hospital. What people are doing doesn’t help the family….I wish people could stop.”

CAUSE OF DEATH?

However, Marietjie Bothma’s brother stopped short of revealing how the TV personality died.

According to her friend Thabang Mochela, Marietjie spent her last few days at her home to “rest.”

Mochela told TshisaLive: “I was the one taking care of her while she was sick. I took her to the hospital, and they tried their best before she passed away in the morning.

She added: “I never expected this so soon. I never thought things would turn out this way”.

Marietjie first found fame in 2013 after her King Pie advert went viral.  Following that, she landed roles in local soapies and radio stations. She was even one of the MCs at Jacob Zuma’s presidential inauguration in May 2014.
