Royal AM owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize opened up about why she did not land the role on Umkhokha.

MAMKHIZE: ‘I HAD MY ISSUES’

The cast of Umkhokha has wrapped up the first season but there was speculation looming that MaMkhize would make an appearance. This is because she photographed with executive producer Mandla Kheswa several times.

MaMkhize admitted that the idea of her appearing on the show existed but her focus shifted when she purchased Royal AM football club.

“They wanted me to come in but by the time I was supposed to come in, that’s when I had my issues with soccer and had to buy a new club. I was committed to starting a new club so I couldn’t be in Umkhokha,” she told TshisaLIVE.

The Royal AM owner went on to explain that Mandla is like a brother to her because they both come from the same home town.

“Mandla is a brother so I can take a photo with him any time. We come from Lamontville so he’s a brother. I don’t want to say anything now but watch this space. Anything is possible with MaMkhize,” she continued.

IS THERE A FUTURE IN ACTING FOR THE ROYAL AM OWNER?

MaMkhize said that she does have an interest in acting but only if she is approached. She explained that it is not something she would go out looking for.

“If somebody approaches me then yes, but it’s not something I’m going out and looking for,” said MaMkhize to the publication.

MaMkhize made her acting debut on SABC 1’s Uzalo in March 2021. The businesswoman said she was approached for the role so she did not have to audition.

“I’m feeling excited, dying to see how the final thing came out,” she said of the show.

She added that she used this as an opportunity to give her fans what they wanted – to see her on television again.

“It was not something I planned to do. I felt like my fans had been asking me to come back with a season two (of her reality show) or just to their TV screens. I felt this was an opportunity for them to see me because I think I owe them that,” she continued.
