Sbu Mpisane, who is a former police constable and the ex-husband of Royal AM Football Club president Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize, has broken his silence after three armed men gained entry to his home in La Lucia, Durban, on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking to News24, Mpisane said that the three men had a house key and did not take anything.

MPISANE DETAILS THE INCIDENT

Mpisane told the publication that he is “not okay”.

“On Saturday when I arrived home I smelt cigarettes and alcohol in the place and I knew there were people inside. When I slowly moved to the lounge area I saw the intruders had been sitting there drinking my alcohol and possibly waiting for me to arrive,” said the businessman.

He added that the main suspect had a gun and tried to shoot him. However, the suspect’s gun jammed and that gave him the opportunity to fire shots at him which injured him on his leg.

“But they were quick to escape and as I ran after them to shoot them – I saw them getting into a white vehicle and speeding off,” Mpisane explained.

‘THIS WAS NOT A BREAK-IN’

According to the former Metro police officer, this was not a break-in.

“This was not a break-in. In the numerous times that these suspects entered my home nothing was taken, not even a glass was removed.

“They came here with one intention, and that is to kill me. I hope that police are treating this with urgency, because those men will be back to my house. I’ll be ready for them.”

“There was no forced entry, a key for the lounge door was used to enter the house. How he got the key is not known to me,” Mpisane said.

In addition, he said that the house keys and the suspects’ firearms have been handed over to the police as evidence.

MAMKHIZE DISTANCES HERSELF FROM THE INCIDENT

When news of the incident broke on Saturday, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda told TimesLIVE that the house is divided into two parts, a northern and southern part.

Mpisane lives in one end of the house, while MaMkhize lives in the other.

“There is a northern part and a southern part. The woman lives in the northern part and the man in the southern part because they are going through a divorce. It is in the southern part where the man lives where the robbers tried to strike.”

According to the Daily Sun, MaMkhize also responded to questions about the incident, subsequently distancing herself.

“Thank you all for the messages of concern but as you are all aware, I am separated from Sbu Mpisane.

“The incident that took place on Saturday does not involve me or my wing of the estate,” she told the publication.
