BREAKING: Kwaito legend and TKZee member Magesh has died

Kwaito legend and TKZee member Tokollo ‘Magesh’ Tshabalala passed away following an epileptic seizure at the age of 45.

Legendary kwaito musician and member of the iconic group TKZee, Tokollo “Magesh” Tshabalala died on Monday 15 August. According to City Press, his lifeless body was found by a family member and it is alleged that he passed away in his sleep after an epileptic seizure. The music legend was 45 years old. 

TKZee, formed in the 1990s, is made up of Kabelo Mabalane, Zwai Bala and MageshTshabalala. The group is best known for their chart-topping hits, Phalafala and Shibobo. The award-winning group blew Mzansi away with a performance in April at Celeb City ahead of Casper Nyovest and NaakMusiq’s highly-anticipated boxing match.

MZANSI LOSES A KWAITO LEGEND: MAGESH TSHABALALA

As per City Press, kwaito legend Magesh Tshabalala’s lifeless body was found on 15 August by a family member. It is reported that he passed away in his sleep. 

A member of the Tshabalala family said his death was a result of his battle with epilepsy.

“No visible injuries can be seen on his body he was just lying in bed,” said the family member. 

TKZEE’S ILLUSTRIOUS CAREER

Magesh Tshabalala, Zwai Bala and Kabelo Mabelane met at St Stithians College in Johannesburg in 1992 and four years later, the group officially formed TKZee. Their legendary single, Shibobo, features soccer star and Manchester United first team coach, Benni McCarthy. 

TKZee’s last album, Guz Hits, was last released in July 2005. Since then, they have gone their separate ways. 

Mzansi last saw the group perform at Cassper Nyovest’s Celeb City event in Sun City earlier this year.

ORLANDO PIRATES MOURNS MAGESH

Magesh is the son of Orlando Pirates boss, Stanley Tshabalala. In a statement released on 15 August, the local football club paid tribute to the legendary kwaito star. 

“We convey our heartfelt and deepest sympathy to the Tshabalala family and pledge our profound moral support.”

“We supplicate that God gives you the family fortitude at this moment of extreme grief and pain.”
