It’s no secret that MacG has a razor sharp tongue that lands him in trouble more often than not.

But whilst the controversial radio personality has made it clear he is not for everyone, he continues to make headlines for all the wrong reasons.

And with every scandal, the Podcast and Chill host’s reputation takes another knock.

But MacG has been dabbling with controversy since his early days in the industry. Here’s a look back at his biggest scandals…

HOMOPHOBIA

In 2010 MacG was suspended from YFM for making a series of homophobic comments, including saying he “hates gay people”.

The incident was reported to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA) and the DJ was later dismissed.

MacG apologised for his comments on social media, posting: “I’d like to profusely apologise to everyone I offended during my show last month when I made reference to homosexuality. Sincere apologies”.

TRANSPHOBIA

Earlier this year MacG was slammed for making transphobic jokes about US reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner.

MacG and his co-presenter Sol Phenduka also poked fun at SA media personality SIv Ngesi after he revealed his drag queen persona Sivanna.

The duo’s comments led to sponsor Old Mutual pulling the plug on the podcast. They said in a statement: “We distance ourselves from the harmful commentary against the LGBTQI community and humanity at large.”

MacG courted controversy once again for making another transphobic joke last month. This time he mocked actor Vuyo Dabula’s sexual encounter with a transgendered woman.

The outspoken star’s comment led to Amstel Lager dropping their sponsorship of Podcast and Chill.

The brand said in a statement: “The Amstel brand, locally and globally, is centred around friendship and inclusion of all people, regardless of gender, race or sexual orientation, without discrimination, and we distance ourselves from any transphobic and homophobic views”.

MACG APOLOGISES FOR ‘DISTASTEFUL COMMENTS’

Earlier this year, MacG and his team issued a public apology for comments that were “homophobic, transphobic and very distasteful”.

They said in a statement: “Out of this experience, we have been able to learn and educate ourselves about social issues and to know where we must draw the line from what is expressed as a joke and when a ‘joke’ infringes upon someone else’s freedom.”

MacG also claimed that he and his team would undergo diversity training with regards to issues faced by the LGBTIQ+ community.

MACG ABUSE ALLEGATIONS

But more concerning than all of his comments was an incident in 2018 where MacG was accused of assaulting his baby mama

According to reports, MacG’s girlfriend accused him of “kicking” and “beating” her “to a pulp”.

According to Sowetan, MacG’s girlfriend alleges the argument kicked off after he accused her of cheating.

She said in an affidavit: “I was sleeping when my boyfriend hurriedly came to our bedroom and asked to see my phone. When I asked him why he needed to see my phone, he forcefully took it from me and then pressed it. Thereafter he started to assault me all over my body with his open hands and he also kicked me”.

MacG spent a night in police custody. His girlfriend later dropped charges against him
