Singer Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer, Magdalene Moonsamy, says her client cannot wait for her day in court as she’s not a suspect in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial and has no idea who the eyewitness is that defence advocate Malesela Teffo mentioned in court on Wednesday 1 June.

Teffo claimed in the Pretoria High Court yesterday that a witness will testify that the singer allegedly killed the Bafana Bafana captain and father of her child by mistake in 2014.

According to Sunday World, Magdalene Moonsamy — who is Kelly Khumalo’s lawyer — revealed in a media briefing on Thursday 2 June that the singer would like to have her day in court as she feels prejudiced. The Longwe singer trended all day yesterday after Teffo’s claims of an eyewitness who will testify that she mistakenly shot Meyiwa.

“We cannot be slamming allegations around without testing them. This is sensationalist. The intimidation of myself and my client has been longstanding. We are not going to fold our arms. We have been silent for too long,” said Moonsamy.

Moonsamy added that Khumalo allegedly tried to save Senzo’s life and maintains her innocence.

“Kelly told me when Senzo was taken to the medical room at that moment she was praying and it is then she discovered that Senzo had passed. She tried to save Senzo’s life. Allegations that she did otherwise is preposterous.”

Khumalo’s lawyer says she and the singer will meet today to discuss a way forward regarding the allegations made by my Teffo and to discuss the eyewitness.

“We will be taking action following these allegations. I am meeting my client this evening. We want to know who is this eyewitness that will testify against my client.”

Teffo submitted an unidentified witness to the court on Wednesday that would testify that the singer shot Meyiwa, who was visiting her at her mother’s house in Vosloorus at the time.

“I put it to you Mr Mosia that a witness, not just a witness but an eyewitness will testify that Senzo R Meyiwa was allegedly shot by Nonhlanhla Kelly Khumalo by mistake, as it is alleged. Do you have a response?” Teffo asked Mosia.

Teffo also added that the same eyewitness will also testify that the gun used to shoot Meyiwa by Khumalo came with Longwe Twala – who was allegedly dating Zandie Khumalo Gumede in 2014.

All eyes are on songstress Kelly Khumalo and her sister Zandile Gumede as tweeps now believe Kelly’s sister could be the eyewitness after she released a song, Ikhwela with cryptic lyrics (“Time to blow the whistle and even men point guns at us”) yesterday.
