‘I’ve been silenced by Kaya’: Unathi speaks out on Sizwe altercation
‘Idols SA’ judge Unathi Nkayi has broke her silence on the altercation she got into with radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo at Kaya FM.

Media personality Unathi Nkayi has broken her silence on her altercation with radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo via a video posted on Instagram today (26 November).
THE ALTERCATION
Unathi Nkayi was fired from Kaya FM on 17 November. On 20 November, City Press reported that Unathi got into an altercation with Sizwe Dhlomo before she was fired. Unathi allegedly lodged a complaint with Human Resources (HR) against Sizwe for verbally abusing her. When HR looked into the matter, Sizwe revealed that all conversations, including those off-air were recorded and insisted HR listen to it immediately.
HR allegedly gave Unathi the opportunity to retract her allegations after the recordings were heard but she refused. The Idols SA judge remained silent since the allegations levelled against her surfaced but she has now spoken out. Unathi claims that she was silenced by Kaya FM because of the contractual agreement freelancers sign.
“I’ve been silenced by Kaya. I received a letter that states I may not speak of the matter publicly because of the contractual agreements we all have as freelancers. I was specifically told that I cannot use my platform to share my version of events. The only matter I will address because it is very important to me is the theme of GBV that keeps on coming up,” said Unathi.
She expressed that she was displeased about the serious issue of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) being dragged into the altercation.
“This all happened when Sizwe made reference to GBV in South Africa in one of his many posts about me. The GBV had nothing to do with the matter. I never alleged at any time that Sizwe committed any act of GBV against me. Sizwe knows this. Kaya knows this,” She continued.

UNATHI: ‘I HAVE HANDED OVER THE MATTER FROM KAYA TO MY ATTORNEY’
The media personality went on to claim that no GBV allegations were made against Sizwe — but neither him nor Kaya FM corrected this narrative that swept across social media.
“For the record Sizwe and I both submitted allegations in writing allegations against each other, some founded and some found not to be, from both of us. I have handed over the matter from Kaya to my attorney to handle legally,” she added.
Unathi went on to say that she and Sizwe are not friends. She explains that she distanced herself from the radio personality when he spoke about her marriage and children on air.
