Kanye West is setting the record straight on why he purchased a house just across the street from his ex Kim Kardashian

The rapper has been portrayed as the real-life “Joe Goldberg” after the news broke of his “too close for comfort” purchase.

In December, Ye bought a a $4.5 million (R69 million) home in Kim’s Californian neighborhood. This after Kim Kardashian went public with her romance with 27-year-old comedian Pete Davidson.

But the star claims he is being “gaslit” by the media, and he is just a dad who wants to see his kids more.

KANYE INTERVIEW WITH JASON LEE

Over the weekend Kanye sat down with Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee to share his side of the story.

In it, Kanye claims his motivation for the move stems from wanting to have a “solid schedule” with his four children.

He said: “My solace comes from seeing my kids and getting a solid schedule. That’s why I even got the house. [It was] flipped into there was something wrong with me getting a house next to my kids.”

Kanye claims that he wanted to be a better dad than his own father, who did not pursue a relationship with him.

He continued: “You see when my mom took me from Atlanta to Chicago, my dad didn’t come to the coldest and most dangerous city in the world to be next to [me]. He said, ‘I’m going to stay down in Atlanta.’

Kanye – who trended over the weekend over his comments over Chicago’s birthday party – claimed “nothing and no-one” would come between him and his children. He added: “Nothing with my career, with this rap, with this media, with none of that, that’s gonna keep me from my children. And that’s what I want everybody to know.

“Don’t play with me, don’t play with my children. Ain’t no security gonna get in between me and my children and you ain’t gonna gaslight me.”

CLASH WITH PETE DAVIDSON

Kanye – who claims the Kardashians refused to give him the address to Chicago’s 3rd birthday party – claims he was recently barred from entering his family home.

He continued: “When I went to go pick my kids up from school, the security stopped me at the gate. So at that point, security was in between me and my children and that’s what was not going to happen,

“But I didn’t want to argue about it. So I just chilled, took my kids to school, and then took my kids back. I am driving. I bring them back and North was like, ‘I want you to come upstairs and see something.’ And it’s like, ‘Oh, Daddy can’t come see something. Daddy can’t come inside.’ But that hadn’t been defined.”

He also took a swipe at Pete Davidson, whom he claims is allowed into the home his children reside in.

He added: “I am hearing that the new boyfriend is actually in the house that I can’t even go to…Security ain’t going to be in between me and my children, and my children ain’t going to be on TikTok without my permission.”

TWEEPS CONFUSED OVER WHOSE SIDE TO PICK

Divorces, custody battles and co-parenting – especially between celebs – can be messy affairs.

And it’s clear tweeps had mixed feelings over whose side to pick.

“Kanye speaking on buying that house to have space near his children. The media did a great job flipping the narrative. I saw so many of y’all believing he’s just tryna stalk Kim”

“Kanye wouldn’t be allowed in my house if I were Kim either. Boundaries are necessary with that one”

“Why are people shocked that Kanye is no longer allowed into Kim’s house? She isn’t denying him access to their kids, he’s just not permitted to enter the property. If you want to see your kids, come get them. But drop them off at the door and don’t come inside. It’s standard”
