South African musician Murdah Bongz, has broken his silence on rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA’s death – via an Instagram post on Saturday 18 February.

AKA was shot dead outside of Wish restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February, along with his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane.

Musician Bongani Mohosana, popularly known as Murdah Bongz, took to Instagram on Saturday 18 February to pay tribute to late rapper AKA. Murdah Bongz breaking his silence on AKA’s death came on the day the rapper was laid to rest.

Murdah Bongz is believed to be “married” to DJ Zinhle. DJ Zinhle has a seven-year-old daughter named Kairo Forbes with AKA and one-year-old daughter Asante Mohosana with Murdah Bongz.

DJ Zinhle trended on Twitter as she mourned AKA and Tweeps weighed in on how Murdah Bongz must feel. However, the former Black Motion star poured cold water on the speculation by paying a touching tribute to the rapper.

“Dear Kiernan, I took a little longer than I had to write this, but to be honest I didn’t know what to say. As a fellow musician thank you bro, thank you for inspiring all of us to do better, thank you for always proving your love for music in the quality of music you created,” he wrote. 

“Your catalogue will be one of the greatest catalogues of all time. As a man, I learned something very important from you, know your worth, no matter what happens in your life always know your worth,” he continued.

“As a father, you were amazing, you did it all for Kairo and that shows in the love she has inside of her. Your legacy will live on, may you rest well with the many legends we look up to. Till we meet again, Dad Motion,” he added.

Twitter users were divided over the musician’s tribute to his “wife’s baby daddy”. Some thought it was touching.

While others thought he felt forced.
