Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, also known as slain rapper AKA, was murdered in Durban on 10 February after his unknown killer took a fatal shot to his head in plain sight while standing with his entourage outside Wish On Flordia restaurant, and recently his seven-year-old daughter took to her Instagram and shared a video singing one of his songs.

AKA’s daughter, Kairo, is understandably missing her father as she continues to grieve his unsolved murder that took place just over a month ago.

She shared a video online where she could be seen singing along to AKA’s Lemons (Lemonade) song, which features rapper Nasty C.

The song was released in 2022 on YouTube and has already gotten over 1.6 million views in six months.

In the video, Kairo can be seen confidently singing the song with her friend at the back of the car. The adorable girls enjoyed themselves and smiled the whole way through as they sang the song word-for-word.

When sharing the video online, Kairo captioned,

“Kairo on the 🎤…. I’m going to miss our car sessions, daddy,❤️.”

Speaking to SABC, KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi gave an update on AKA’s pending murder investigations and was quoted as saying,

“We want to encourage communities to come on board and share information. In the investigation of Mr Forbes, who was murdered last month, the majority of the work we did thus far is because of the help from the community. The different cameras in that vicinity are not installed by the state, but it is those cameras that are helping us to analyse and identify some of those people who might have been involved and it helps us to make linkages.”

A few weeks ago, Minister of Police Bheki Cele also shared that they confiscated the cellphones of several suspects in connection to Kairo’s father’s death.
