Reality star and the mother of former President Jacob Zuma’s child, Nonkanyiso “LaConco” Conco is the new host of Ingan’ Yam, announced via a tweet on 25 November.

Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced that LaConco will be hosting Mzansi Magic’s Ingan’ Yam season two. Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) star LeJoy hosted season one of Ingan’ Yam but LaConco will now be replacing her.

“Casting News: LaConco to host tv show. #RHOD breakout star, Nonkanyiso Conco aka Laconco, will replace #RHOJ star LeJoy as the host of the reality series Ingan’ Yam for the new season.  Yes, the show has been renewed for season 2 which will air in 2022,” he tweeted.

Tweeps thought she would make a great host.

LaConco is known for being the ex-fianceé and “baby mama” of former President Jacob Zuma — but she shot to fame when she starred in the Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD). RHOD has been renewed for a second season which will hit Showmax in 2022. The reality series will be available for streaming in more than 40 African countries.

The Zuma family had their reservations about LaConco becoming a reality star. They thought that she may bring their name into disrepute and warned her against it.

“Don’t bring our family name into disrepute or else,” said Jacob Zuma’s nephew Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma to Briefly.

“Already the Zuma name is being talked about almost every day in the media. We don’t want any drama as a family. Enough is enough. You will see if that happens. We are really tired now as the family of people who tarnish our name and get away with it. But I’m not in any way saying she will do that,” he continued.

He went on to say that LaConco was free to do as she pleases as long as she does not harm the Zuma family.

“She has the right to do whatever she wants to do as long as it doesn’t cause pain to other people. All I’m saying is that she must not say or do things that might harm the Zuma family name, which I think was the ticket for her to be chosen for that role,” he added.
