Soccer fans took to social media this weekend to select some of the hottest female soccer players in the world. See the list from Gabby Howell, Lauren James, Ana Markovic, Thalea Smidt, and more.

‘HOTTEST FEMALE SOCCER STARS’ 

Tweeps picked the hottest female soccer players from South Africa’s Thalea Smidt, Croatia’s Ana Markovic, England’s Lauren James, Germany’s Giulia Ronja Gwinn and more.

Talented soccer star Lauren James is an English professional soccer player, who plays as a forward for the Women’s Super League club Chelsea and the England women’s national team. She’s the younger sister of Chelsea and England defender Reece James. Her father Nigel, is a UEFA-licensed football coach who inspired her to play soccer.

ANA MARIA MARKOVIC

Ana Maria Marković known as the “world’s most beautiful footballer” is a Croatian soccer player, who plays as a forward for the Swiss Women’s Super League club Grasshopper and the Croatia national team. The Switzerland-born soccer player is of Croatian descent from her mother’s side. She was born in Split, and moved with her family to Switzerland aged 12, growing up in Zürich.

Gabby Howell is vice-captain, a centre-midfielder with a great work rate, skillful on the ball with an eye for goal. She’s a leader on the pitch, with fantastic energy and a real character in the dressing room, according to Sutton United.   

KHIARA KEATING

18-year-old Khiara Keating is a goalkeeper, who currently plays for WSL side Manchester City. She’s been playing for Manchester United until she was 11 and moved across to their city rivals in 2015. She made her debut for the side on 12 January 2022, starting in a FA Women’s League Cup against Leicester City.

Gabby George is an English professional soccer player, who plays as a defender for Everton. She became Everton Women’s first full-time professional footballer five years ago and has been playing soccer since she was nine. “It was a dream come true. I remember getting a text from the club and, literally overnight, football became a job.”  

LEIGH ANNE ROBE

Versatile defender Leighanne Robe joined Liverpool FC Women from Millwall Lionesses in 2018. Robe, who can play left-back or centre of defence, came through the youth system at Arsenal and won an FA Youth Cup there before joining Watford Ladies in 2014, according to Liverpool FC.

Taylor Hinds became Liverpool FC Women’s second signing of summer of 2020 when she arrived in July. She played for Arsenal for eight years and made her senior debut as an 18-year-old. Fans of the soccer star from the U20 team that won bronze at the World Cup in 2018, according to Liverpool FC.

María Pilar “Mapi” León Cebrián is a Spanish professional footballer, who plays as a defender for Liga F club Barcelona and the Spain national team. She was the first paid transfer in Spanish women’s football history when she signed for Barcelona from Atlético Madrid, with a fee of 50 000 euros in 2017.

Banyana Banyana and Sundowns’ Thalea Smidt is a central midfielder and a Cape Town-born soccer star, who was a part of Santos FC and Spurs FC youth structures in her hometown. Smidt made her senior national team debut in a friendly encounter against the Copper Queens of Zambia early in February this year. She also featured in the AWCON qualifier against Algeria a few days later, according to IOL.  

GIULIA GWINN

Giulia Ronja Gwinn is a German professional soccer player, who plays as a right-back or a midfielder for Frauen-Bundesliga club FC Bayern Munich and the Germany women’s national team. She began playing football at the age of eight for TSG Ailingen and later for VfB Friedrichshafen.

Carla Humphrey is an English soccer player, who’s been playing as a midfielder for Liverpool since July 2021. She described her qualities as a player: “I’m quite a creative midfielder. I like to get forward and link in with the players and create chances, and that’s what I want to bring to the team. I have that attacking mindset and I always want to get forward and make something happen.”
